PRESS RELEASE

Statement from the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate on the passing of Senator Feinstein

Senator Dianne Feinstein was a model Senator in many ways. The longest-serving female Senator, she was also a model of dedicating one’s life to public service and to their country. Her final vote in the United States Senate was cast yesterday.

Senator Feinstein achieved great legislative accomplishments for her constituents in California and the American people because she understood the power of working across the aisle to achieve lasting bipartisan solutions to issues such as civil liberties, national security, and gun safety. Senator Feinstein was the first woman to serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee alongside Senator Kennedy and worked with him on important issues such as immigration reform.

The Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate sends our deepest condolences to Senator Feinstein’s family and her Senate staff.
