Kennedy-Breyer Civic Scholars Summer Program
An immersive summer experience exploring the three branches of government for the next generation of civic leaders

Session 1: July 20-July 24, 2026
Session 2: July 27-July 31, 2026
Apply to be a 2026 Kennedy-Breyer Civic Scholar and join educators from the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate, the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, and the Justice Stephen G. Breyer Community Learning Center on Courts and the Constitution at the Moakley Federal Courthouse for a free, week-long summer program that examines how the three branches of government work together to shape our democratic process.
Scholars will spend time at each of the three partner sites exploring the distinct roles of each branch, their interconnections, and their crucial contributions to democracy. Through hands-on activities and simulations, scholars will trace the FIRST STEP Act through the legislative, executive, and judicial branches.
Who is Eligible to Apply?
- Students who will be in the 10th grade in the fall of 2026
- Students residing in Boston or the greater Boston area
- Students who can fully commit to attending the week-long program, 9:00AM-3:30PM, either Monday, July 20 to Friday, July 24. or Monday, July 27 to Friday, July 31
